A Look Back at Holy Week…
What a great Holy Week and Easter at Aldersgate! A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to make it such a special time. I know that staff and volunteers alike worked very hard and it showed. A look back…
Holy Week kicked off with Palm Sunday worship and the Easter egg hunt. It was wonderful to see so many kids parading around the sanctuary waving the palms! The music was wonderful, especially with opening from the bells. Finally, the egg hunt was a particular success with significantly more children than last year. Overall, it was a great day as we all pondered our shouts of Hosanna.
The next the Maundy Thursday meal, Kansas City Style. How about that BBQ? It was truly wonderful and great fellowship too! The night closed with a time of devotion as we served one another around our tables.Truly listening to Jesus’ “new commandment.”
Good Friday brought the dramatic presentation from The Sonlight Players, “Moments in Time.” The production brought to life Da Vinci’s “last Supper” painting as we heard from each disciple as they wrestled with the question, “Is it I, Lord?” The production closed with the difficult, but powerful scene of the crucifixion. It was indeed difficult, but Sunday was coming!
Finally, it was Easter at Aldersgate! What an amazing morning of worship to celebrate the good news! As always, the choir and the band were sensational, and the church looked great. The liturgical dance reminded us that “This is Not the End.” And of course, we were challenged to take on an Easter perspective, to elevate our thinking so that we can elevate our actions. As I said, it was a great Easter and our attendance was up twenty percent over last year!
All in all, thank you Aldersgate for a great Holy Week and Easter. I look forward to spending many more with you.
